Whims Brought to Life
One category of humor cartoons are especially adapted to; and that, outside of skit comedy, can’t well be communicated to an audience (skits, requiring some minimum length, may also labor the joke), is this sort of idea we all have, little whimsies that take off on the day’s news, or any small observation. Below, a few of mine.
Ganging Agley. It was a simple idea. Just a sight gag implying a bad day for this man in his boxers and socks. I didn’t notice until after I’d finished that the dog looks like Hitler. That accident has no implication within the actual cartoon, though it does suggest (write it if you like) a dark satire, in which an illustrator mistakenly appears to be making political commentary…
Leadership Crisis. Pretty much the question of what kind of face would a big toe have, if a big toe had a face?
Top of His Game. Just making an entrance, before deciding who the baby belongs to.
My Sunshine. People who don’t mind global warming getting a little friendly attention.
Double Word Score. First, the thought of people playing insult Scrabble. Then, I don’t know from where, the idea of the players being cereal mascots.
American Noir. There should be a storyline, although there isn’t, really.
