Camouflage: This Week’s AI Images

Posted by ractrose on 11 Jun 2023 in Art, Nonfiction

Last week I did fashion, and since I like to jump off from one project to the next, I chose the military theme explored with gala gown for an army general, and asked for ways of disguising weaponry…

A tank disguised as cheese. All four images were similar, so I chose the most utilitarian.

These images, of fighter planes disguised as cathedral spires, are kind of inspiring. I think the bot must use color schemes based on predominant tones in the images it draws from, so that planes yield greys and blues, and a dark object against the sky vibe.

I included all four of these, because they’re the funniest. The request was for a sonic weapon van disguised as a house for sale. The first image, the pseudo VW bus, carries some groovy associations, while the hammered metal finish makes you think, “Why don’t they offer that in cars?” Otherwise, only the bot knows why “vans” need to be rusty and rundown, and why these don’t look like houses. Also, the signs in imitation language seem wanting to say “sonic”, which would defeat the purpose.

Last, below, a request for a drone disguised as a bat. Pretty cool, and definitely scary if looming towards you overhead.
