Side of Life

A stranger draws a curtain

Of stories across the stage his sex is judged

To be male

At length there is no hiding

The thoughts of the silent dying captured

In the act of uncorking the bottle

The reasons people think

Bent over gallon jugs decanting

Cup by cup

Decadence

She plays the role of a faithful dog

An antic creature who catches his eye

While the other one rolls hers

And turns away

“Ouch!” he says

The indefatigable ratter

Giggles and grins the gong sounds

Low and blanketing it dominates

And for a while no one can speak

What side of life comes

With the package holds her place

It will always be

She cracks her face

And says the thing expected
