Today, October 1, 2017, readers of Torsade stories can begin A Figure from the Common Lot, a novel set in the 1870’s. If you like books about history, war, espionage, politics, spiritualism, immigration, you may like to begin with these opening pages.

This week, I posted two episodes of the Tattersby arc, Folly series, beginning with “A Cold Reception”, Fiona Tattersby reviewing her hard feelings for Simon; then, “A Scientific Family”, Simon’s preamble appealing for the host’s intervention with Fiona, who tells herself she forgives, but doesn’t. In a new Hammersmith, “Autocratic Mysteries”,  Aimee sits down to lunch at Mossbunker’s table; Mossbunker produces, and withholds, a meaningful envelope. “Sympathy for the Torturer” ended this week, with Anton intercepted by his Utdrife captor. “The Bog” continued, with Laurel and Rachel making camp. Finally, in “Are You Alienated”, John Emmett tells Minta about his father; their walk—and her time in St. Petersburg—draws to an end.
Photos on my posts usually have a link to related information, sometimes serious, sometimes whimsical, sometimes in answer to a direct reference. Since people can be leery about clicking links, I include them here: what they are, what sites they point to.
